Walking.

I’ll keep walking,

Even if I have to walk alone.

I’ll keep walking,

Even if I’m far away from home.

I’ll trudge the path that lay before me,

I’ll climb over every hurdle.

I might run, or jog, or sprint,

I may crawl or even dawdle.

I’ll keep walking,

It’s all that I can do.

I’ll keep walking,

With or without you.

I’ll talk to bees, and birds, and bugs,

I’ll converse with sheep and cows.

I’ll be polite, not shout but whisper,

They won’t reply,

But it doesn’t matter anyhow.

I’ve stopped walking,

There’s nothing in me left.

Optimism and enthusiasm

Have departed;

Of hope I am bereft.
